Labiaplasty Abroad: The Privacy-First Checklist

Everything that applies to choosing any surgery abroad — verified credentials, real assessment, written quotes, confirmed aftercare — applies to labiaplasty. But intimate surgery adds a layer most checklists ignore: privacy. Here's the complete version.

The standard diligence

  • Verify the surgeon: checkable board certification (e.g. FACS, FEBOPRAS), the procedure performed personally, and comfort answering technique questions — trim vs wedge, sensation preservation, how much they deliberately leave.
  • Real assessment before booking: a consultation that examines your specific concern — not a package price quoted to everyone. Photos should be optional at first contact, never demanded.
  • Written all-inclusive quote: surgeon, facility, anaesthesia, follow-up, transfers. Istanbul typically runs 50–70% below comparable UK/US private pricing; verify what's inside the number.
  • Confirmed aftercare: who reviews your healing, how fast questions are answered, what happens if something concerns you after you fly home.

The privacy layer — questions worth asking directly

  • "Who sees my messages and photos?" The right answer: the surgeon, directly — not a sales team, a group inbox, or a coordinator's personal phone.
  • "What is your photography policy?" Clinical photos should be consent-only, stored securely, and never published without separate written permission. A clinic pressuring you toward publication has the wrong priorities.
  • "Do you publish before-and-after images?" There's a legitimate range of practice here — but note what it signals. This practice deliberately publishes none; examples are discussed privately in consultation.
  • "How discreet is the visit itself?" Private consultations, unmarked billing where relevant, and a clinic where your reason for visiting is nobody's business.

Practicalities for the trip

  • Allow 5–7 days in Istanbul; most Western passports enter visa-free for short stays (verify officially).
  • Pack loose, soft clothing and plan unhurried days — this is a gentle-recovery trip, not a sightseeing marathon.
  • Travelling alone is entirely workable; a companion is comfort, not requirement.
  • Time the flight home for day 5–7, after your final check.

The one-line version

Verify the surgeon, insist on a real and private assessment, get the quote in writing, confirm aftercare — and hold the privacy questions to the same standard as the surgical ones. A practice that treats your discretion as seriously as your tissue is the one that deserves both.
